ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.

The Council of the New Zealand Amateui Athletic Association met at the City Hotel last night; present — Messrs J. F. Griersor (South Canterbury) in the chair, W. "fonts (Auckland), L. Matson (Wanganui)j J. B. Laurenson (Nelson), J. D. Lawrence (West Coast), J. C. Cusack (Canterbury), P. Selig (Kawkes' Bay) and L. W. Harleji (Hon Sec.) It was decided to ask the Wellington Club to recommend a gentleman to take the position of local officer for the Wellington Province. A letter was read from the Gisbornt " Club, appointing Mr T. Skeltonits delegat?. A letter was read from the New Sonti Wales Association, asking the New Zealanc Association to be represented at the New South Wales championship meeting 01 Oct. 5. The Council decided that it coulc not accede to the request. The Council granted fifty-three applica tions for reinstatement, the majority of th( applicants being members of the newly formed amateur clubs at New Plymoutl and Thames. The applications from the Taranaki Miuiawatu Harriers, Waikato, Waitotarf and Thames Clubs for affiliation to th< Association were granted. The meeting then closed. During the recent sitting of Parliameni numbers of the Members were affectec with troublesome Coughs and Colds That largely advertised inedicine, Woods Great Peppermint Cure., was the populai e emedy.
