ADDINGTON YARDS.

m THIS DAY. [Per " Star's Pigeon Express."] There were fair entries in most classes of stock at the live stock market at Addington to-day, and the attendance was quite up to the average. Fat Cattle,— The week's supply of beef was made up of 150 head, the yarding being a very mixed one. The best quality was a line of prime bullocks from Mr J. H. Davidson, of St Leonards, which averaged £9 los, and another draft of North Island 3tcers averaged .£8 7s 6d. Bidding was much more free than of late, and a better all-round sale resulted, although no alteration in prices per 1001b can be quoted. Dairy Cattle. — Some ?ery good cows and springers were on offer in the dairy pens, and for the better classes competition was very keen, the best sorts bringing from .£7 to £9, medium Muds .£4 10s to £6 10s, and inferior and aged £2 to £4. ' Store Cattle. — There were a number of very nice young cattle from yearlings to three-year-olds in the store pens, but the sale has not yet started. Fat Sheep.— The entry of fat sheep was good both as to number and quality, and the market opened very well. Fat Lambs. — The paucity in the supply of good fat lambs caused a slight improvement in the better classes, which sold at from 9s 6d to 12s 2d, others bringing from 6s 6d to 8s 9d. Store Sheep. —As is usual at this season of the year, the yardings of store sheep are gradually decreasing, this being more especially the case in the breeding ewe classes. The entry showed a slight improvement in quality compared with last week. Turnip sheep were in strong demand, aline of very forward four-tooth cross-bred wethers from Parnassus realising 12s 7d, and some good sorts from Balmoral lls to 11s 6d, backward to medium sorts selling at 9s to 10s 6d. Cross-bred wethers and maiden ewes brought . up to lls Bd, cross-bred breeding ewes sold at from 5s 6d to 8s 7d for younger sorts, good forward lambs 7s to 8s 3d, and others from 5s to 6s 6d ; merino wethers 6s, and merino ewes in lamb 3s Id. Pigs. — The yarding of pigs showed better quality than of late, and baconers ar.d porkers averaged 3d per lb.
