GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

There is virtually nothing new in the grain and produce market, and the business transacted yesterday was of a hand-to-mouth nature. There are a considerable number of inquiries for wheat for export, ;bnt holders are not inclined to accept i prices offered. Oats are, if anything, firmer, and the only lines which, changed hands; yesterday did so at prices above 'quotations. Beans are wanted, but very I few are offering, and the high price of oats causes all that are available to be taken for ' local feed purposes. Oatsheaf chaff is still being readily taken for export, but the deterioration in the quality offered has had the effect of weakening prices. Potatoes and onions are dull, no lines of any. magnitude being required for export.. There is a good demand for straw for export, both to the North Island and Sydney; Cocksfoot has met a rather better inquiry during tho past few days, but other seeds- are- ne- . glected. The following are current prices : — Wheat. — Pearl (prime milling), 3s- 4d to 3s od ; millers' mixed lines, 3s to 3s od ; Tuscan, 3s 3d to 3s 4id: Hunter's, 3s 3d to 3s 4^d; good seconds, 2s 8d to 2s lOd. Oats. — Prime milling 2s 3d ; good seed Tartars 2s 3d; short feed to 2s 2d j Duns and Danish and good short feed 2s 2d. Barley. — Malting, prime, 3s -6d to 3s 9d (nominal) ; medium do, 3s to 3s 3d j second quality 2s 6d to 2s 9d,.feed 2s 3d.
