LINWOOD y. SYDENHAM.
The senior teams of these clubs met at Sydenham Park. From the start the Linwood forwards adopted heeling out tactics and a good round of passing initiated by Price and Glennie .ended in Stringer scoring a ;try.' No .goal was kicked. The kick-out, brought momentary relief to Sydenham, but a strong rush by the Linwood forwards again took the ball to the Sydenham .line and some passing among the backs enabled Cox to score. Ward registered a goal. Immediately after resuming Macguinness, one of the Sydenham backs, injured his shoulder, and had to retire from the field. Despite this loss the home team suffered no further reverse to half-time.' On play being resumed Sydenham went away with a good dribbling rush, and Rodgers, one of •the three-quarters, was tackled close to tho Linwood line. Orchard sent the ball back to the centre, and although . Sydenham played really well they were unable to breakthrough the Linwood defence. In the last twenty minutes Linwpod had all the best of the play, Irvine (2) and Glennie (1) scored tries, and Orchard and Stringer each kicked a goal. Linwood thus won the match by twenty-one points to nil. Mr T. W. Reese was referee.
