SUPREME COURT.

IN BANCO. Wednesday, March 18.'. (Before his Honor Mr Justice Denniston). > POLICE V. HICKSON. This was an appeal from the Magistrate's Court, Lyttelton. Mr Donnelly (for Mr Deacon) appeared for the appellant. Mr Donnelly said he had been instructed to apply for an adjournment. Mr Kippenberger, the appellant's solicitor, was in Wellington attending the Harper- cases, and, before he left Christchurch, arranged ■with Mr Stringer to have the case adjourned until he (Mr Kippenberger) could attend. The case had to be set down for that day in order to comply with the Act. He (Mr Donnelly) asked his Honor to allow the case to stand over. The case was an appeal under section 155 of the Licensing Act. His Honor said that, as there was no one present. representing the respondents, he would adjourn the case for four weeks as requested by Mr Donnelly. The case was then adjourned till April 15.
