The Star. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18, 1896. MASONIC.

Last night Lodge Concord, No. 39, Papanui, held its annual meeting for the installation of the Worshipful Master elect, and the investiture of his officers. There was an exceedingly large attendance, the Lyttelton, Rangiora and other lodges being well represented. The lodge-room presented an attractive appearance, haying been newly decorated under the supervision of Bro W. H. M'Dougall. i The District Grand Superintendent, Bro 1 ,J. J. M. Hamilton, attended in his official capacity, and was accompanied by a number of Grand Lodge officers. He was assisted in the installation ceremony — . most admirably conducted — by P.M. Bros Were, Gifkins, Hull and others, and the musical portion o,f the ceremony was pleasingly rendered by a large choir under the direction of Bro W. J. Jackson. The Board of Installed Masters numbered 1 twenty-four. The following is the list of officers for the ensuing year : — W.M., Bro R. B.Wilkinson; 1.P.M., Bro , W. H. Were; S.W., Bro W. ,H. ' M,'Dougall; J.W., Bro C. D. Hardie; treasurer,. Bro H. J. Hopkins ; secretary, Bro J. Gilmour ; organist, Bro W. J. Jackson ; S.D., Bro R. Coates • J.D., Bro H. Skinner ; D.C.i Bro G. A. Ellis; steward, Bro J. W. Homer; 1.G., Bro A. H. Webb; tyler, Bro G. May. • In the course of the evening an exceedingly handsome Past Master's jewel "was presented to Bro Were, in recognition of services rendered by him. The Lodge having been closed, the brethren adjourned to the schoolroom, where supper was served. The usual Masonic toasts were interspersed with songs, and a very pleasant hour was spent.
