mt PcNERAi. at Kaiapoi. — The funeral of the late Mrs Dudley took place yesterday. The large attendance showed the great respect in which the deceased lady was held. Salvation Army. — On Saturday and Sunday evenings Lieutenant Perry gave an exhibition of limelight views in the Kaiapoi Oddfellows' Hall. There were good attendances on both occasions, and the pictures were much appreciated. A Prohibition Case. — At Timaru, yesterday, a wharf labourer pleaded guilty to two charges of entering licensed houses, he being a prohibited person. He was fined 10s in each case. Mr Raymond appeared for the accused, and said he had looked into a suggestion that the provision under which the charges were laid did not apply to the case, as the prohibition order was issued before the last Act was passed. He found, however, that there was nothing in the suggestion. Petty Larcenies. — A man named James Stanton was sentenced at Timaru yesterday to six months' imprisonment for some impudent petty thefts. One charge was of stealing a quantity of timber, a few small tools and some nails from a house in course of erection near his own : the other of stealing two planes from a man to whom he went with a message. Some of the stolen timber was found concealed under a bed, but most of it had been worked np into rough furniture for the use of the house. Tai Tapu Dairy Company.— The halfyearly general meeting of the Tai Tapu Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, which was to have been held in the district schoolroom at 1.30 p.m. yesterday, lapsed for want of a quorum. The Directors' half-yearly report stated that the output of butter for the season had been greater than hitherto, while the working cost had been less. The butter sold for export to the National Mortgage and Agency Company had been graded first grade by the Government grader, which spoke for itself as to quality, while that shipped in October on the company's account had realised from 108s to 112s per hundredweight, which was satisfactory. The Directors recommended a yearly balance and audit instead of one every six months, and that interest at 5 per cent on fully paid-up capital should be declared. The factory's total output of butter for the six months ending Jan. 31 last had been 171,8101 b, an increase of 96081 b over the output for the corresponding period last year. The supply of milk for the last half-year had amounted to 4,908,8171 b, the percentage of butter fat being 3*50. One. pound of butter was made out of every 28_lb of milk.
