(Tbb Press Association.! WELLINGTON, March 2. The Rev Father Devoy, speaking yesterday on the movement for religious instruction in schools, said that the Irish Text Book which it is proposed to introduce wasa sham, and had fallen into disuse in Ireland many years ago. He understood that Catholics had signed the petition in. favour of it, but he warned them that they were under a misapprehension. Their friends who were so anxious about this matter should erive proof of their sincerity by putting their hands in their pockets as the Catholics had done, and by establishing schools of their own.
