White wheats show an inclination to weaken, but millers' mixed samples still maintain full quotations. There are many inquiries for oats, but farmers' valuations stand in the way of business. Good heavy samples of oatsheaf chaff are scarce, and command up to 50s at country stations, but the bulk of the samples offering are of very poor quality, and for these 45s is full value. The first grain sale of the season was held on Saturday, when there was a fair attendance, but not much disposition was shown to speculated A small line of good wheat brought 3s 4dex store, and some feed barley 2s per bushel. The following are current prices : — Wheat.— Old, 3s 6cl to 3s 8d; new, 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Oats. — Prime milling, 2s to 2s Id; short feed, Is lOd to 2s ; Duns, Is lOd. Barley. — Malting, prime, 3s 9d to 4s ; medium do, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; second quality 2s 6d to 3s, feed 2s 3d, Cape barley 2s 3d to 2s 6d. Beans. — Nominal, well-saved 2s 4d. Peas. — : Blue Prussians, 3s 4dto 3s Bd. Ryecorn. — Nominally Is 9d to 2s. Flour. — Millers quote roller ,£lO, stone £9 10s, sharps M, bran J3 108. Oatmeal .£ll los. Oatsheaf Chaff. — 42s6dto 50s at handy country stations, according to quality. Cloveb. — Extra choice machine-dressed 6d to 6£d, farmers' lots 4£d to s£d, according to quality. Grass Seed.— Eyegrass, farmers' lots, 2s 6d to 3s 3d; machine-dressed to 4s, heavy-weight 4s 3d. Cocksfoot 3d to 3£d, town machine-dressed 4d to 4£d, extra to 4£d. Dairy Produce.— Cheese 3fd to 4d, loafed to sd. Butter— Factory Bd, dairy 6d to 7d, salt 6d. Bacon and hams s|d. The above prices are paid to farmers f.o.b. Lyttelton, unless where otherwise stated.
