— - With reference to a rumour that the Hon W. Rolleston was to be asked to become a candidate for the Ashley seat, it is understood that there is no likelihood of that gentleman going north of Christchurch t6 contest a seat. If he comes out at all it will probably be for the Rangitata constituency, in opposition to Mr Maslin. With regard to the Ashley seat, it is stated that the Amberley branch of the National Association will ask Mr Reese, of Mont Serrat, to become a candidate in the Conservative interest.
