ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
; : A. PATAL WEECK. DJSASTEOTJS EXPLOSION. [Special to Press Association.] WASHINGTON, March 1. The barque Cadzbw Forest foundered at Columbia Kiver. All on board were drowned. Ten persons Lave been lulled or wounded by a boiler explosion at Lexington. SYDNEY, Feb. 29. A carpenter named Hazel, residing at Leichardt, was cleaning a rifle when the charge exploded and struck his wife, who wasixsntering the, room, in the month. She succumbed to the injuries, but before her death she told the police that it was purely accidental. Hazel, who has been arrested, said that he did not know that the weapon was loaded. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 2. A 'bus ran into a tramcar in Willis Street this afternoon, and three young men who/ were standing on the footboard of the car, received rather severe injuries. J. Dalziell (late of Dunedin), clerk in the office of Stout, Mondy and Sim, and W. Bottell (late of Nelson, clerk in Mr Ha^court's office) each had a leg broken, while J. Patterson (brother of the wellknown bookmaker), clerk in the New Zealand Express Company, had his foot smashed. All are progressing favourably.
