FEDERAL QUARANTINE.

[Special to Press Association.] MELBOURNE, Feb. 29. An intercolonial conference of the heads of Health Departments has been opened to discuss the question of a federal quarantine. The proceedings are held in private. Dr Gresswell, the chairman, in his opening address, said that recent events disclosed a remarkable lack of uniformity in dealing with suspected quarantinable cases. The measures at present in vogue were both far from efficacious, and inconvenient.
