A MYSTERIOUS CASE.
The police at Clinton are, says the Otago Daily Times, engaged in the investigation of a case which at present has a mysterious [ appearance about it. A bundle of woman's clothing and a tin box containing three bonnets were found in the Pomahaka River on Wednesday, inside the box being a receipt in favour of a Mrs Matheson from a Dunedin dyer. About Saturday last a person of that name, who had obtained in Dunedin a maintenance order for 5s a week against her husband, a rabbiter on the Pomahaka; arrived at : Clinton, en r'qule for Pomahaka, and she -was taken over tKe river by a settler - on horseback, and deposited near Matheson^ house.
