Mr Meredith, the member for Ashley, addressed his constituents in the View Hill schoolroom on Wednesday night He spoke for fully two hours, touching on most of the leading questions of the day. After the address Mr Meredith answered a number of questions, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and confidence. It is rumoured that a section of the tern: perance party in the Taieri district are anxious to bring Mr J. C. Buekland out at the general election against Mr W. Carncross. According to the Wairarapa Observer Mr W. J. C. M'Kerrowwill be the Government candidate for the Wairarapa seat at next election in opposition to Mr Buchanan. The Napier Telegraph reports that Mr H. A. Cornford, of that town, will probably be offered the Attorney-Generalship.
