[Peb Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 27. , The Wakatipu, which arrived from Sydney this afternoon, brought fifty-six passengers for all ports. The balance-sheet of the Palmerston North Gas Company shows a net profit of .£845. The Directors recommend a dividend at the rate of 5 per cent per annum, and carry forward .£391. The increase in the city valuation means an additional revenue of J22OCX The Council to-night accepted Mr J. Charlesworth's design for a city market, but in- ■ formed a deputation from the Anti-Chinese League that the question of the erection of ! the building is still under consideration.
