A. scheme is being considered for the establishment on a large scale of rifle ranges for British volunteers and militia. JULY MANOEUVRES. Feb. 27. Mr Goscheri, ex-Chancellor of the Exchequer, speaking at Lewes, said that he was delighted to see the Btrong hold which Great Britain possesseased of the hearts of the colonists. The relations at present existing with Germany were excellent ; and, he said, it was a dangerous fallacy for foreign statesmen to believe that Great Britain would nevei fight for outlying interests. International log-rolling, he asserted, had caused British isolation, which, he thought, was easily terminable. THE ASHANTEE EXPEDITION, Lord "Wolseley warmly welcomed and eulogised the troops operating it Ashantee on their return here.
