SALE OF RUNS.
At the Land Office to-day the Commissioner of Crown Lands offered at auction the lease of several pastoral runs. Mr Marchant explained that the sale had been greatly reduced by the withdrawal of several of the runs previously advertised. Arrangements had been made, under the Pastoral Tenants Belief Act for the lessees of several runs to renew their licenses, and it had bijen decided, for good reasons, to withdraw the New Zealand Estates Company's runs, and re-offer them to the Estates Company for three years. The runs left to be disposed of were the Grassdale and Benmore and Snowdon stations. The prices realised were: — Runs 1(57 and 168, 15,800 acres, Grassdale and Benmore stations, upset rental .£235 per annum, .£451, Messrs Mathieson and Sons, Springfield ; Run 169, about 18,020 acres, part of Snowdon -station, Selwyn County, at the upset rental of .£425 per annum,' Mr George Gerard, Snowdon.
