A Cracow newspaper states that in the Russian province of Viatka a headless body has. just been found in a marsh. An investigation was opened, and it transpired that in the village of Multanie an old man, named Dimitrieff, had advised the peasants to kill a certain village beggar, and to offer his body as an offering to avert cholera and famine. Dimitrieff instructed them to cut off his head, to drink his blood, and to eat his boiled heart and lung 3. This was done. And yet in this village there is a church and a school !
