SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
A meeting of the East Christchurchj School Committee was held on Wednesday^ ! present— rMessrs M. Sandatein (chairman), j F. J. Board; D.. Lumsden, J. Jamiesori, . J^ j Tippett Smith, H. and J. Clarke.; Apologies were received for the absence of! Messrs J. S. Wiiliams and J. R. Brunt. Several letters from' the Board of Educa> ■! tion were read. It was resolved to vote: for Messrs Adams, Peryman and "Weston. as members of the Board of Education. :A • report was received from the head-mistressi in reply to a letter from the actingsecretary for the School of Domestic Instruction,'' with reference to giving the school-girls practical instruction in cooting,, laundry work,, dressihaking and house- j work. t : It was resolved, on the head-i mistress's suggestion^ that the . committee" i should giyea prize -of.the yalue\6f £1 is to a pupil or ex-pupil of the j school who : obtains the : ;best . report. ' at ■ the annual exainination of the School of .Domestic Ihstiuctiori. It was resolved that a vote of thanks.should be accorded the .staff for the very satisfactory manner in which the ■ entertainment in aid of the prize fund had been carried out. At a meeting of the Flaiton School Committee it was decided to support the candidature of Messrs Adams, Meredith and Webb for seats on the Education Board.'
