(Conductor : Mr 0. Schwartz). Opening : Attack poor, great want of precision and better body of tone, bars 4 and 8 faulty, band out of tune. Marcato : Slovenly. Con fuoco : Top of band makes first quaver in each bar too long, should be played a semi-quaver, bass solo more breadth and better articulation required, basses muddy in. bars '10 and 11, cadenza fair. Andante : : Tone: ,nbt .-'•level and basses very , .uneasy, euphonium fair. s. Agitato ;,: Band 4 little better in tune, cadenza fairly.goodj Tempo .- Melody 'fairly healthy, but .band still ottf of tune, ; tempo- alter lD 'badly balanced, and basses : very Uneven j caideriza fair tone, ..but .style . too : marked. Allegro : General want of precision all through, grades of tone neglected, band improves from bar 27 play shot note very precisely, cadenza fairly managed. Moderato : Fair attack, accompaniment too loud, soprano joins out of tune, cornet playing fair, but tone gets thin at bar 12, cadenza a bit tame, shot notes faulty, tempo slightly improved, but basses muddy. Animato : Want of go, soprano fair. Spirito : Articulation faulty, cadenza very nice. Andante : Accompaniment not together, very unsettled from bar 4, euphonium going fairly well, at bar 19 band badly balanced and diminuendo not gradual, accompaniment very uneasy, euphonium overblows from bar 24, cadenza fairly in tune, but baritone slips A and cannot feel accent in triplet run. Allegro : Going fair, but want of body of tone, soiano and Horn not in tune at rallentando bar, tempo articulation muddy, Jf crotchets not precise, band not well balanced but mi.proves, making a fair finish. ■ ••■ ■-.■-.
