CANTERBURY A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
An ordinary meeting of the General Committee of the Canterbury Agricultural i and Pastoral Association was, held yesterday i afternoon} present— Messrs E. G. Staveley (president) in the chair, W. Henderson, 8., Garforth, W. Keece, J. Overton, P. Duncan, J. Ferguson, F. A. Archer, |R. H. Rhodes, J. Deans, H. P. MurrayAynsley, J. T. Ford, G. Gould, Sir John Hall and Dr Levinge. . > Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. Grigg, J. Anderson, jun., C. J. Wilson and D. M'Millan. CORRESPONDENCE. A circular was read from Mr J. A. Marciel, honorary secretary of the Canterbury'branch, of the Navy League, asking the Association to assist the League. The circular was received, and it was decided to ask Mr Marciel to forward any literature he may have on the subject, which this Association would distribute. The National Sheepbreeders' Association of London' forwarded a copy of the suggested quarantine regulations addressed by it in November, 1894, through the , Agents-General in - London to -the various Australasian' Governments. It requested that, if the Association was in favour of the proposals, it would take such action as 'was thought desirable to bring them under the notice of the Governments and persons of influence in the colonies. The circular was received and referred to the subcommittee on the sheep classes; who were requested to go. into the regulations and report to next meeting. ■ ' . Mr Overton said he was sorry there was to be a midwinter sjiow, as there was not a sound sheaf, of corn in the country, and the show of roots would also be poor. : : BHXPMENT 0? MVE STOCK. : The President reported that unforeseen difficulties had arisen 'which made, it impossible for the prize stock from the late [ show to be sent Home at present, and the matter would therefore have to be hung j up.for the time being. y | .. ILOOK BOOK. i • Mr John. Deans, in accordance with, notice, : moved — "That the resolution passed' some time ago be rescinded. It was as • follows :— ' That the Association refines to countenance the publication of the Flocikßook, unless it were published in accordance with the conditions passed at the conference held in Wellington in 1894."' ' ■--•■;•■ .Sir John Hall seconded the motion pro forma, and after discussion it was carried. Sir John Hall then moved— "That stud rama in the Flock Book take precedence of others at the ram fair, and that flock rams be sold in the same order." Mr Rhodes seconded the motion, which was carried wiih the addition of the words, "The sheep to be offered in the order of their breeds as hitherto." . . MISCELLANEOUS. n It was decided to hold the next meeting of the : committee ' on March ;5, and the nrmnni meeting of the Association on Marchl3.
