FLOODS IN AUSTRALIA.
■• [Special to Prbbs Association. ! BBISBANE, Feb. "12. In Consequence of the floods provisions are running short in Barcaldme, and the bakers notify that thera will be no bread after to-day. BEISBANK Feb. 13. The flood in the river at Hockhampton jis falling slowly. At Maryborough six ■ inches of rain fell in twenty-four hours. The river is> rising fast, and all the wharves and several streets are submerged. There are six inches of water in the Grand Hotel. Gympiehadnine'andla half inches of rain in twenty-four hours, the river rising fifteen inches in the hour, and encroaching on the town. Communication with Charters Tower is suspended, the railway line being under water for a long distance. It is raining heavily in Brisbane and the surrounding districts. SYDNEY, Feb. 12. About four inches of rain were registered at Bourke to-day. A ballast train has been hemmed in between two washaways. So far the train is safe from the flood. The country is submerged in every direction. A large number of sheep have been drowned. On the Darling watershed twelve inches of rain fell in six hours, and this is sure to bring a heavy flood. SYDNEY, Feb. 13. Over seventy miles of the Bourke railway is impassable, and. the flood is still rising.
