T. E. TAYLOR'S CONFIDENCE IN THE SEDDON GOVERNMENT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — The following appeared in a morning paper yesterday :—'} Cliristchurch Elec- 1 tion— -As the canvassers for the Government nominee are industriously circulating a statement that if. l am elected my vote w;ould be given to oust the present Government ;in favour of a, Conservative or coalition Ministry, I declare that the statement is absolutely false. The difference of opinion between myself and those supporting the Government nominee is as follows .—They believe the Ministry should control the Liberal Party. I believe the Liberal Party should control the Ministry.— Thomas Edward Taylor." Now, sir, how opposite this is to Mr Billcliff's action after the address by the Hon J. M'Kenzie. Mr Billcliff represented T. E. Taylor and his following. as being opposed to the present Government, hence his amendment that the words " confidence in the Government," be struck out. In face of this, who could believe T. E. Taylor is in favour of the Government ? He is .not, and no one has sunk 'lower to show opposition to it than T.E.T. His last ruse, of accusing the Premier of indecency in his speech given at the Opera House,, is not merely an insult to the Premier and the Liberal Party who support him, but also to the thousands who listened to and thanked the Premier for his address, by their vote and applause. Certainly T. E. Taylor has no liking for the Government, and never fails to show himself in opposition to it, and to any other ; for he is born that way.— l am, &c, POLL. EARLY.
