• i [Peb Pbess Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 11. Mr Martin, . S.M., gave judgment tibia morning in. a case of considerable interest to trades unions. The Wellington Carriers' Union sued, a man named Porter for the amount of his entrance fee and subscription. Mr Martin held that as the Union was incorporated under the Industrial, Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1894, it was entitled to recover the subscription, and gave judgment for the amount ; but he held that as the rules of the Union were not retrospective, it could not recover the entrance fee.
