SANITARY ADMINISTRATION.
In the Public Health Section of the recent medical congress at Dunedin, a resolution was passed on the motion of Dr Springthorpe, drawing the attention of the Colonial Governments to the sanitary scheme adopted in British India; and requesting'th^m'to authorise a conference o£, their, medical' advisers, lempoweVed ' iio report as to the best manner in' which sanitary progress may be furthered. Dr Symesi of Christchurch, in seconding the motion, said the position of health officers was becoming more or less mperilled. Municipalities were .not always willing to accept their guidance when it involved trouble or expense. He could speak of Christchurch. The health officer there insisted on the abolition of cesspits, and counselled other things that troubled the ratepayers in the suburbs, and a convenient excuse was found for getting rid of h ; m.
