REPLIES TO THE PREMIER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— Both Mr "Tommy" Taylor and Mr Charles Lewis have "replied to the Premier," and both have viciously resented Mr Seddon's "interference" in presuming to instruct the people with regard to the policy of the Government. It is possible that they may have forgotten, or even may not have seen, one of a series of fables published in volume form a few years ago. It is to the following effect : — A certain donkey became much incensed at the repeated interference of the rising luminary, which caused him intense annoyance by abnormally projecting the shadow of his ears. After much meditation upon plans of revenge, the donkey betook himself to the summit of a neighbouring hill, from which point of vantage he purposed to use his heels with terrific effect. The luminary having reappeared with his unwonted regularity the animal made a vicious attack, but the only result was that he stood out more pronouncedly an ass than ever. — I am, &c., COULDN'T HELP LAUGHING.
