Some Chinamen who were felling timber accidentally found golden stone outcropping. They broke off several pieces, which they took to Pilbarra. One piece, four inches long and two thick, was almost pure gold. A party of miners immediately proceeded to the spot, and finding the reef pegged out a claim before the Chinamen had time to return. Subsequently a rush set in, and all the adjoining ground was pegged off. All agree that the stone is of extraordinary richness.
