Wood -Street Crossings.— The work of laying down the first. of the wooden street crossings was commenced yesterday at the intersection of Cashel and Colombo Streets. The wo6d used, was red birch.
The Volunteers.— Colonel Fox. inspected the E Battery and the Engineers, at the drillshed last evening. The Battery, mustering • f pi-ty - four, ,- under Captain Donald and Lieutenant Dougall, was inspected in rifle, exercise, and will parade for gun drill next Tuesday evening.
