RE-CAPTURE OF A PRISONER.

AUCKLAND, Jan. 6.

Alley, ' who escaped from gaol, was captured to-night after a sharp tussle by Chief Detective Grace, single-handed, in a house in Stanley Street, Mechanics' Bay. It has been ascertained^fchat since his escape Alley has been living in a gulley in the domain, and he was fed by boys till Saturday night, when he became a lodger in the house where he was captured. Alley had .£2 16s and proper clothes on, so he must have been assisted in some way or other by sympathisers.
