Tho weather was lovely for the Lancaster Park Amateur Trotting Club's Spring Meeting yesterday, and tho attendance v/as extremely large. Speculation was correspondingly brisk, and in spite of the strong" opposition of a number of cash bookmakers, who did buainsaa in a most open rnajuior, Messrs Hobbs and Goodwin, who worked the totalisator, succeeded in passing no leas than .£6041 through the machine during the afternoon. The racing was particularly interesting ; in fact, it is doubtful if a batter afternoon's trotting has ever been provided in Canterbury. Eita, performed in fiua style, and won both the November aud Lancaster Park Handicaps, in the latter of which she accomplished a record for New Zaaland. The following 1 are details of Hie racing :— !
