J In the Magistrate's Court to-day, the charges againat John Henry Brown &nd hiß wife, Alice Brown, of having performed an illegal operation on a young woman who died at Palraerston North, were partly hpard, and the accused were remanded until Nov. 13. Mr J. M. Richardson has withdrawn from the Mayoral contest, leaving the. j present Mayor, Mr Luke, and Mr Fisher j to fight it out.
