0 [Special to Pbess Association., LONDON, August 15. The Tekoa's sheep averaged, alive, 355. The Southern Cross lost 1 horse, 22 cattle and 30 sheep. The Southern Cross cattle died from the effects of bruises evidently received in shipping, the sheep from exposure, and the horse from acoident. [The Southern Cross left Sydney on July 9, her live cargo consisting of 550 cattle, 488 sheep and 29 horses. The cattle, with the exception of 100 head, were shipped by Messrs Bergh and Brabbin, the Liverpool firm which is exploiting the Australian meat trade. The reßt were on account of various shippers.] It has been arranged that the TJrmston Grange shall deliver 25,000 sheep direct at Liverpool, and, if possible, 10,000 at Cardiff. [The Urmston Grange, 3400 tons register, left Sydney last week with a live meat cargo of 230 fat cattle selected by Messrs Pitt, Son and Badgery, Sydney, for Mr John Cooke, Melbourne. Her frozen meat cargo consists of 65,000 carcases mutton, and 6000 quarters beef. At Buenos Ayres she iB to take on board 1100 fat Bheep.] Mr Mackerrow, a Manchester shipper, reports that he has sold beforehand the whole of the Timaru's cargo at a satisfactory price, which proves the readiness of Manchester to begin a direct trade. He desires the colonies to know this, in order to dispel doubts as to the capacity of the trade. Other offers will follow. One steamer with mutton, tallow and butter will leave Australia for Manchester in November.
