pp» [Special to Pbess Association.] SYDNEY, August 16. Mr Saunders, agent for Mr Lane'a Cosmo settlement in Paraguay, has received a report from Lane relative to the liabilities of the New Australian Association, in which he states that he holds himself responsible for the liabilities of the initial settlement up to May, 189., and considers ' that those in possession of property at the settlement, received more than sufficient to compensate them, he having handed over property valued at £5000, exclusive of land. The liabilities of those who joined the Cosmo colony he liquidated by lending tbat colony sufficient for five years, and without interest the sum of JB2OO. As to those settlers who refused to throw ia their lot with either the New Australia or Coßme colonies, whose claims, including unsecured business creditors, were estimated at from £1500 to J62000, the Cosine settlers empowered Lane to retain any money earned with a view of paying the claims as soon as possible.
