THE LICENSING BILL.

At a public meeting held at New Fly* mouth to discußS the new Licensing Bill, resolutions were passed to the effect that public-houses should be closed on election day; that licenses ' should not be transferred from one site to another; that the cumulative vote should be retained ; that proper supervision of hotels should be provided; that children under sixteen should not be supplied with liquor; that if prohibition were carried, liquor should not be sold in New Zealand waters ; that no license should be granted unless threefifths of the residents in the locality signed a petition in favour of it; that where reduction was carried the minimum should not be less than 25 per cent, instead of 5 per cent as proposed in the Bill.
