WELLINGTON, August IS. The Anti-Chinese League after considerable dißCusaion and opposition passed a resolution endorsing the proposal to concentrate the Chinese in one quarter of the town. Several speakers pointed out that there was no power to make them Bhiffc., A resident of Maafcerton left a note intimating his intention to commit Buicide. A search party found him wandering in the scrub, evidently out of his miud. An old Maori, said to be 104 years of age, was found dead in a hut at Upper Hutt. DUNEDIN, August 15. At the Police Court; Daniel Bryce, for neglecting to forward to the Inspector of Mines a plan of the workings in his coal mine, was fined 40a and costs.— Alfred Carter Broad, for working after receiving notice, had his certificate suspended, and was fined 20s and costs ; and for failing to provide proper conveniences for his female operatives was further fined 40a and costs.
