Benefit Concerts.
ITO THE EDITOR. Sir, — After what has already appeared {in your " To-day " column, I had anticipated that those responsible for the benefit to be tendered to Mr Wallace would have deemed it prudent to cancel \ the projected concert. They seem how- | ever, fully determined to try and get hold of a purse of sovereigns for presentation to 1 one who has invariably been handsomely I paid for what he has (as a musician) ' done. Mr Wallace would, I feel sure, ! rather that the concert were abandoned ' than that it should be a fiasco. Better would it have been had the "joint Secretaries " organised a concert, Bay, on behalf 1 of Miss Taylor, to whose case reference has already been made in your paper ; but, ! alas, the saying " that unto him who hath ' more shall be added" is about to be borne out in our midst, notwithstanding the many more deserving caßea with which the I nublic are faced. Permit me, »b a dis- ' interested person, to congratulate you on the stand you are taking in this matter, and I am sure you have the great bulk of the people with you.-I am,
