[Special to Press Association.! SYDNEY, August 13. The Government is appointing a commission to inquire into the working of the collieries of the colony, consisting of Messrs Eogers (President); Gregson, of the Australian Agricultural Company, and Cnrley, Secretary of the Northern Miners' Association. It is Btated that the Australian Smelting Company is already negotiating for a supply of 150,000 tons of round coal from the Illawarra pits; also, that the Broken Hill Proprietary Company is considering the erection of large smelting works in that district.
