• — CHEISTCHTJRCH. FkiDAY, AUGDBT 2. (Before Mr E. Weatenra, J.P., Mr W. Laogdon, J.P., and Mr W. D. Lawrence, J.P.) Drunkenness. — Joseph Kioley was charged with being helplessly drunk at St Albans on the previous day. Inspector Broham said the accused was not in a fit; state to appear that day. He would ask for a remand for a week to enable accused to receive medical treatment. The Bench remanded accused till August 9. Alleged Damaging Pjropbktit. — Margaret Hurst was charged with having, on August 1, wilfully broken a pane of glass value £20 in a shop in High Street, the property of Sarah Bassett. Mr Russell appeared for the accused, and asked for a remand. Inspector Broham offered no objection, and the accused was remanded to appear on Monday next. Bail was allowed, accused in her own recognisance of <&10, and one surety of i>lo. —Mary M'Gilvery was charged with having on August 1 broken five panes of glaes, value ss, the property of Mary Hogan. Accused pleaded not guilty. On the application of Inspector Broham, accused was remanded till next day. Vagbancy. — Mary Brown, a young woman, pleaded not guilty to a charge of having insufficient lawful means of support. Inspector Broham prosecuted. Tne evidence of Sergeant .Wilson, Constables BoßWorth and Ramsay showed that the accused wandered about Manchester Street till late at night, soliciting prostitution, and oonsorting with men of the spieler class. Accused had nothing to say, and waa sentenced to one month's imprisonmeat with hard labour.— Hester Ford, another young woman, was similarly charged. She pleaded not guilty. The evidence for the prosecution was similar to that in the previous case. Accused admitted having served sentences for various offences. It was stated that she had parents living in Christchurch, but preferred to wander about the streets and get her living by immoral means. She was sentenced to two months' imprisonment with hard labour. Miscellaneous. — A boy named John Lilley, twelve years of age, was charged with having, on July 18, thrown a Btone to the danger of private property on St Albans Road. The boy broke a pane of glass,, value ss. He admitted the offence, and was cautioned and discharged. — A charge .against Michael Mooney of having allowed his hora.e to obstruct the footpath in Hereford Street on July 22, waa adjourned till August 9.-- -A charge against G. Butler of having allowed a pig to wander in the garden of John Radford, at Gebbie's Valley, on June 6, was adjourned till August 9. Alleged Indecent Assault. — Thomas" Thompson, on remand, was charged with having on July 30, at Papanui, indecently assaulted a little girl seven years of age. On the application of Inspector Broham, the case was heard with closed doore. After hearing the evidence, the Bench said there was no doubt that tho accused had committed an assault on the girl. He would be sentenced to one month's im- j prisonment with hard labour. Unbegisteeed Dogs.— The following persons were fined 10a and costs 7s for keeping unregistered dogs :— W. Fairburn, J. M'llroy, J. Woods, R. J. Ford, F. Griffin, W. Kerr, and I. Bigham. The following persons were fined 5a and coßta 7s:— E. Cutts, C. Clark, J. Davis, W. James, J. M'Knight, B. Porter, J. Lane, J.
