LAND BOARD.
The Canterbury Land Board met yesterday; present— Messrs J. W. A. Marohant (Commissioner of Crown Lands), D. M'Millan and A. C. Pr ingle. The following applications wero granted ;— Sections 79, 80 and 81, block VII., Cheviot, caßh, T. Coakley, 2a 3r 39p ; section 36588, block XL, Waiho, lease in perpetuity, A. M'PherBon, 210 acres; Sections 3 and 4, reserves 158 and 2016, block 11., F. W. Elliott, 89a 3r 18p ; section 36563, block IV., J. Bolger, 121 a lr; section 86564, block IV., T. C. White, 214 acres ; section 36565, block IV., T. Crean, 217 acres; eection 36566, ! blocks IV. and V., J. P. E. Gwatkin, 215 acreß ; section 36567, blocks IV. and V., W. Five leases in perpetuity were exchanged for perpetual leases. The Board approved of the mort. gages of nineteen holdings to the Government Advances to Settlers' SuperintendentSeveral defaulting holders of leases in perpetuity were reported, and it was resolved to call upon them to show cauee why their interests should not be forfeited. It was decided to re-offer let 14, reserve 2332, View Hill, under the village homestead lease in perpetuity system, weighted with a valuation of £77 10s for improvements, and also to reopen lot 4. block XI,, Cheviot Survey District, ! weighted with a valuation of £9 for im- ! provements. Schedules were laid before I the Board by the Commissioner of arrears i of rente and instalments up to date, and ho was instructed to take steps to secure the amounts owing. It was decided to draw the attention of the SurveyorGeneral to the expiration in March, 1807, of the leases of certain pastoral runs, and to point out the necessity of dealing with the lands before that date. With regard to the forfeited small grazing run No. 36389, Station Peak, the Commissioner wav authorised to communicate with the Stock Inspector regarding the destruction of rabbits on this country before re-offer-ing it. .
