♦ A special general meeting of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Asaocia- ! tion was held this afternoon. Mr E. G. Staveley occupied the chair, and there was a fairly good attendance of members. ' The Chairman said that the business of the meeting was the revision of the premium catalogue and consideration of alterations suggested by Bub-committees, and the consideration of the plans for the grand stand. The meeting decided as follows:— To allow to remain the rule relating to housed and clothed sheep and sheep trimmed for show purposes ; to reduce the Hampshire Down classes to the same number as Cheviot ; to add after " inbred half-bred," "to be the progeny of half-bred rama from half-bred ewes, the result of not lees I than five crosses of inbreeding, and showing a decided fixed type of half-br«d j sheep ; " to introduce into the croßß-bred ' section the new class, "five ewes or wethers, under eighteen months, the progeny of firat-croas ewes by rams of any pure breed;" "that all bulls calved before Dec. 31 must be led by a ring through the nose ; " to introduce a class for Highland cattle, the same as Heref ords ; to add the class " cow with two of her progeny " to Jersey and shorthorns, the property of farmers nob owning or renting more than 500 acres ; to introduce a class for four-year-olds in fat cattle ; to introduce in hunters a class for " the best jumper any weight."
