The Native Trouble.

The Premier haß received the -following telegram from Mr W. Kelly, M.H.8., in connection with the Native trouble at Whakatane :—

" I am requested to send the following telegram to you :— ' That the residents of Whakatane tender their appreciation of the action of the present Government with regard to the firm stand they have taken in pushing forward the triangulation Burrey of the Urewera country, as they are of opinion that the oppoaition to that survey Es the result of misguided advice tendered to them for political motives; that the result will be of advantage to both races, •a the isolation of the past by the Natives (ed to false conclusions in respect to the power of the Government of the colony.' "
