ELLESMEBE.
The annual meeting of the Ellesmere Licaneicg Committee was held at the C >urthousa, Little Biver, on Wednesday; present — Messrs H. S. Wardell, S.M. (chairman), Barrett, Bennie, Harris, Daly, Bradley. Coop, Joblins and Perm, The police reported unfavourably iv respect of the Criterion Hotel, Akaroa; Madina Hotel, Akaroa ; and Forsyth Arms, Little B'ver. The licencees had been convicted of permitting drunkenness on their licensed promises, and of supplying drunken men with liquor, and their licenses had been endorsed. In the case of the license of the Fon-y.h.Arms, two endorsements had been granted. The reports on the remaining eleven hotels in the district were satisfactory. Benewals of licenses were granted to J. M'Kenzie, Ellesmere Arms; H. Constable, Ocean, View Hotel, Governor's Bay ; Eobert . Bayley, Wackerli'a Hotel, Akaroa; Charles Wilson, Somerset Hotel, Duvanchelle's ; Horace Pick, Southbridge Hotel ; B. Hill, Boyal Hotel, Southbridge ; A. Fuller, Bailway Hotel, Doyleston. New licenses were granted to S. Grange, Bruce Hotel, Akaroa; Patrick Gilmore, Springston Hotel. Benewals of accommodation licenses were granted to H. Manson, Wheatsheaf Hotel, Teddington ; and Bobert Paton, Hilltop Hotel, Barry's Pass. The renewals of licenses for the other three hotels were held over for further consideration.

At the annual meeting of the Waiapu Licensing Bench to-day all applications for renewala were granted, but applications for new licenses to old houses at Waerenpaakuri and Kawakawa were adjourned till the next quarterly meeting. In these cases the licenses lap.cd through informality last year, and the Bench held that it had no power to grant fresh licenses,
