Mutual Improvement Society. — The usual meeting of the Durham Street Wesleyan Mutual Improvement Society was held on Friday evening, a large number of members being present. Mr Ffrost gave a lecture on hypnotism* reviewing the early hi Btory and progress of the science, and inetancing.Bonio wonderful cures which had teen effected by its use. At the close of the lecture Mr Pfrost answered a number of questions asked by members on the subject.
After allowing for the annual subsidy of £1750 granted by Parliament, the House of Commons kitchen and refreshment room showed a lobs of £45 for tho twelve months. The receipts were for provisions and cigars .£6059, and for wines, Bpiritv
