At the annual meeting of the Australian Mutual Provident Society the report was adopted and general satisfaction was expressed at the progress made. The Chairman said that t'uough the now business •waa nearly £50,000 less than in the pre vious year, still it was close upon three millions sterling. He pointed out that nearly every other ofSce in Australia was losing busineßS. in recent years, but they never had a decrease on the total volume of business in force. Notwithstanding that th6y had had to grant concessions to constituents, etill they were obtaining the ligheat rates on investments or any life oifice in Australasia. The Society, he Baid, continued the policy of vigorous investigation of investments and the utmost economy waa exercised. There was every indication of a revival oE prosperity in the colonies, and he was hopeful that there would be a satisfactory increase in the business of the Society.
