■* NEW ZEALAND WOKKEES' UNION. A general meeting of the executive and members of the New Zealand Workers' iOJnion was held at Waimate on Saturday. Ib was decided to register under the . Conciliation and Arbitration Act. ■■ It was unanimously resolved that the Government Bhould be requested to start cooperative workß to meet the unemployed difficulty dming the coming winter. Mr v F Mercier, organiser and delegate for the North Maud, delivered an address on his tour. He condemned the attitude which he said large runholders had taken up who, because of their bitterness and antagonism towards the present Government, had made the workers sufferers, by refusing to supply travellers with food S" • fefcommoctation, employing ->JWaon labour in preference to white and reducing the number of their em- 1 plojl He spoke of a pamphlet being distributed in the.Hawke'a bay dismct to received a hearty vote of thanks, with an expression of aatisf action with the results of his tour. Correspondence was .dealt with. The nomination for executive officers resulted aa follows :— President, Mr T. Brown; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Walker, George Pearce and A. Shirley; trustees, Messrs W. ILLundon, J. Sullivan and J. O'Connor; auditors, Messrs Taaffe andßurrell; treasurer, Mr H. E. Mann; general secretary, Mr. J. O'Brien. After resolving that a meeting of the Branch Committee should be held on Saturday evening, the proceedings terminated.
