Union in reference to the correspondence es : to the terms in connection with the tour of the Hew South Wales team last season. •It stated that, ia reply to a letter from the Canterbury Union offering .to give: the New Zealand Union S5 pec cent of the act proceeds, a letter had been forwarded on July 23 stating that the terms had then not been arranged, but would be fixed by the Programme Committe. Ifc had afterWards been decided that the New- Zealand "Union should take the whole of the net proceeds. Mr Cteßiwell said that he had never leceived the New Zealand Union's letter of July 23, and this was th 9 .first he had heard of it. Had it come to hand all the difficulty which had arisen over the matter would have been avoided. They r ' naturally concluded that this meant ' that their offer of 15 per cent hadbaen' acoepted, but it now appeared that in ■ the meantime the letter of July 23, which put an altogether different j. aspect on the affair, had gone astray. i It was resolved, after soma discussion— /"That this Union forward to the New .Zealand Eugby Unioa the sum of <824i12s 7d, being the remaining 25 per cent of the net proceeds of tbe New South Wales matches here, and that the Secretary be iuetrncted to express the regret of tho committee that, owing to the miscarriage of the letter, dated July 23, 1894, the terms should not have been clearly understood:" The draft of the report, to be submitted to the annual general meeting, was approved.
