[Per Pebss Association.] INVERCABGILL, Sept. 17. At the Police Court, Bridget Cody, aged seventy years, was committed for trial for attempting suicide by cuttirg her throat. Charles Bates, who had bean acting as agent for the Amalgamated Shearers and General Labourers' Union was charged with embezzling two sums of 5s each and remanded. Richard Duffy, aged thirty-seven, was arrested in the Otautau district for attempting ouicide by stabbing himself in the breast and gashing hiß wrist.
