Christchurch Golf Club.
♦- The annual Championship Tournament of the Christchurch Golf Clnb was commenced on the Hagley Park links yesterday morning. The weather was fine and warm, but the strong nor'-wester interfered with Eome of. the player?. The putting greens were in fairly good order, and notwithstanding the high wind somo of the games were very interesting. The following are the results of the game played yesterday:— First Round.— Mr E. t>. O'Rorke beat Mr T. D.- Condell by one hole after a tie ; Mr B. H. Burns beat Captßia J. W. M&rBhall by 3 up and 2 to play; Dr LomaxSmith beat life N. G. Hantner by 4 no and 3to play; Messrs R. Warner, A. T. White, C; Gordon, L. A. Cuff and E. Wilder had byes. Second Bound. — Mr B. H. Burns heat Mr E. D. O'Rorke by 8 up and G to play ; Dr Lomax-Smith beat Mr R. Warner by 5 up and 4to play ; Mr C. Gordon beat Mr A. T. White by 4 up and 3 to play; Mr L. A. Caff beat Mr E. Wilder by 2 holes.
