• I [Per Press Association.! DUNEDIN, August 28. The young man Casaidy, who waa convicted at Christohurch of stealing a bicycle to pay the expenses of hia honeymoon trip, and admitted to probation, was to have reported himself to the probation officer at Dunedin within twenty-four hours. He has nob done so, but ia understood to have left for Sydney. The girl with whom he eloped has returned to her parents' home. Mr George Turnbull, who was for yeara one of the leading merohants in Dunedin, died thia morning- of general paralysis. Born in 1831, arrived in Wellington in the early fifties, where he established the firm of W. and G. Turnbull.. He afterwards came to manage a business in Dunedin. He took an active part in provincial politics for some time, and had been Provincial Treasurer. He leaves a widow and a grown-up family. Of the sum of £75, taken when the Gothic was in pbrf, by making a charge for admission, £50. has been given to the Dunedin Sailors' Beßt and .£25 to the Port Chalmers Beat.
