The committee recommended— (l) That the committee be authorised to draw np regulations and to make the necessary arrangements for holding second grade examinations at Ashburton, Timaru or any other centre in this provincial district where a sufficient number of candidates present themselves for examination ; subjects to be as specified in the prospectus of the School of Art, 1894. The report waa adopted. MUSEUM COMMITTEE. The Museum Committee recommended the Board— (1) That the Museum be open to the public every day of the week except Wednesday. During the months of September to April, inclusive—On week days from 10 a.m. to S p.m., on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m; during the months of May to August, inclusive— On week days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The museum to be closed on Good Friday, Christmas Day and every Wednesday, except when that day falls on a public holiday. The Chairman said that the former arrangements in connection with the cloaing of the Museum had proved unsatisfactory. Visitors to Chriatchurch could, however, be admitted on Wednesdays. The Curator wrote, etating that under the existing system the Museum was closed for cleaning for a whole week three times a year. The four months' interval was too long for properly looking after the birds and mammals. When the Museum was closed for a week, many strangers had to be admitted at a time when there was no one to look after the collections. The Curator at that time was quite at the mercy of the visitors* He proposed Wednesday as the day of closing, because he was informed by the Union Steamship Company that fewer steamers arrived at Lyttelton on that day than any other. The report was adopted. NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr Weston gave notice to move— " That there be printed in convenient form the nnrepealed clauses of the various provincial ordinances and Acts and other papers that disclose the trusts attaching to ihe estates administered by the governing body of Canterbury College, and that; copies thereof be supplied to the present members and to future members at their election." After disposing of other business the j meeting terminated! (
